Models of Change and Innovation and the Implications for Faculty Development


  • Faculty development programs must address faculty at different stages.
  • We must recognize that different personalities respond differently to innovations.
  • Innovations must have a clear advantage to faculty - an observable improvement over traditional ways of teaching.
  • Innovations must be easy to use and to try.
  • Not all faculty need to change -
    • overcoming barriers may not be worth it.
    • if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
